Bisacodyl

 

CODYLAX® Suppository is indicated:

  • Symptomatic treatment of constipation caused by rectal dyschesia.
  • Preparation for endoscopic examinations of the rectum.

 

CODYLAX® 5mg, suppository:

  • Bisacodyl ………………….. 5mg
  • Excipients: q.s.f ………….. 1 suppository

CODYLAX® 10mg, suppository:

  • Bisacodyl ………………….. 10mg
  • Excipients: q.s.f ………….. 1 suppository

 

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
In all cases, you must strictly comply with your doctor’s prescription.

Dosage:

For CODYLAX® 5mg, suppository:

  • Children from 4 to 10 years old: 1 suppository (5mg) per day, ½ hour before intestinal evacuation.

For CODYLAX® 10mg, suppository:

  • Children over 10 year old and adults: 1 suppository (10mg) per day, ½ hour before intestinal evacuation.
    The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

Mode of administration: Rectal route. Administration of suppository should be as short as possible (10days at maximum).

STORAGE: Store below 30ºC. Protect from light, heat and humidity.

 

The following effects may occur:

  • As with all laxative suppositories, prolonged use may give rise to sensations of anal bumming and exceptionally congestive proctitis.
  • Abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea, hypokalemia.
  • Less frequency: Rectorrhagia, anorectal discomfort (bumming sensation and anorectal pain), vomiting.
  • Rare: Anaphylactic reactions, Quincke’s edema, Generalized pruritus, Dehydration, Dizziness, Syncope, Colitis including ischemic colitis.
  • Pregnancy: Not recommended during pregnancy.
  • Breastfeeding: CODYLAX® can be used during breastfeeding.
